Sourcing

We source claims to primary documents, official records, and direct statements wherever possible, rather than relying on secondhand summaries. Every news article includes a sources section identifying where our reporting comes from.

News vs. Opinion

We clearly distinguish reported news from opinion and analysis. Opinion pieces are labeled as such and reflect the views of their author, not a claim of neutral fact.

Accuracy and Verification

Before publication, we verify specific facts, figures, and quotations against primary or original sources rather than repeating unverified claims from other outlets. Where sourcing is uncertain or contested, we say so directly in the piece rather than presenting it as settled.

Use of AI Tools

WECU News uses AI-assisted tools as part of our reporting and editing workflow — including research assistance, drafting support, and fact-verification — under direct editorial oversight. All published content is reviewed, fact-checked, and approved by a human editor before publication. Articles produced with significant AI assistance are labeled accordingly.

Independence

WECU News is independently operated. We do not accept payment in exchange for favorable coverage, and sponsored or promotional content, where it exists, is clearly labeled as such.
