Real-Life Spider-Man Saves the Day in Arkansas

On July 21 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, a 20-year-old named Christopher Hellenthal (locally known as “NEA Spidey”) was still suited up in his full Spider-Man costume after working a trampoline-park event. Traffic-camera footage shows a man in a wheelchair struggling to cross a busy multi-lane intersection. Hellenthal immediately jumps out of his red Jeep, dashes into traffic, and starts pushing the wheelchair across the road while the lights are changing. You can almost hear him saying the line he later confirmed: “Don’t worry, I got you.” He got the guy safely to the other side, hopped back in his Jeep, and drove off. Jonesboro police shared the video, calling it a “little web of kindness.” Hellenthal told reporters he would have helped whether he was in costume or not — the suit just made the whole thing cinematic.
